A bedroom should feel calm. That usually means one panelled feature wall behind the bed and plain walls everywhere else.
A panelled headboard wall also solves practical problems. It protects the wall from pillow and head marks, it lets you build bedside switches and reading lights into the design, and it can replace a separate headboard altogether.

Headboard walls, lighting and fitting
Decide these before you order.
How much wall to panel
Panel the full width of the bed wall, or at least the bed plus both side tables. A king bed with two side tables needs about 10 to 11 ft. Floor to ceiling looks best; half-height panelling suits rooms with a low loft.
Bedroom wall panel with LED lights
A warm LED profile light set into the panelling, or a strip washing down from a pelmet, replaces harsh overhead light at night. Plan the channels, driver and switch position before fixing.
Switches and sockets
Mark bedside switches, charging points and reading lights on the wall first. Cut-outs made after fixing never line up as neatly as those planned on the layout.
Fixing over paint
Panels fix directly onto a dry, flat painted wall. Scrape flaking paint and treat any damp patch first. On an uneven wall, a light frame or ply backing keeps the flutes straight.
Cleaning
Dust with a dry microfibre cloth. Fluted and charcoal panels can be wiped with a slightly damp cloth. Vacuum cane and acoustic panels gently with a brush attachment.
Small bedrooms
Choose lighter wood tones and slimmer flutes in a small room, and keep the other walls plain. One strong wall is enough.
