TV Unit Wall Panels

The TV wall is the most looked-at wall in the house. A panelled backdrop frames the screen, hides the wiring and gives the room a finished look. Fluted WPC from ₹99 per sq ft is a popular choice; louvers, charcoal and backlit alabaster take it further.

What makes a good TV wall panel

A TV wall panel has three jobs: frame the screen, hide the cables and stay calm enough that it does not fight the picture.

That is why matt, textured panels work best behind a television. Vertical flutes and louvers add depth without glare, and darker tones make the screen blend in when it is off. Very glossy surfaces reflect windows and ceiling lights straight back at the sofa.

This page is the buying guide: which panel, how much wall to cover, what it costs and how it is fitted. For layouts and styling, see our TV unit wall panel design ideas.

Best picks

Which panel is best for a TV unit?

Six options, from everyday to statement.

01

WPC fluted panels

From ₹99 per sq ft. A natural choice for a TV wall: a wood-look fluted surface, waterproof and termite-proof, that frames the screen and works with almost any console.

02

Flexible louvers

From ₹300 per sq ft. Louvers that bend, so the panelling can wrap a curved corner or a round column beside the TV unit instead of stopping at it.

03

Charcoal panels

From ₹200 per sq ft. Deeper profiles and darker finishes for a richer, cinema-style backdrop. Waterproof and termite-proof.

04

Acoustic PET panels

₹150 per sq ft. A soft-surfaced panel made to tame echo, useful when the TV wall is also a home theatre wall with speakers.

05

Alabaster sheets

From ₹240 per sq ft. Translucent, so they can be backlit. Use them as glowing side panels or a lit niche beside the screen, not directly behind it.

06

PVC panels

From ₹99 per sq ft. A budget-friendly way to finish the full wall around the TV unit in plain, marble-look or wood-look designs.

Practical guidance

TV wall panel size, wiring and lighting

Plan these before the first panel goes up.

01

Wall panel size for a 65 inch TV

A 65 inch TV is about 57 inches wide and a 55 inch TV about 48 inches. Panel at least 1.5 times the TV width so the screen does not look squeezed. For a 65 inch TV that means a backdrop of 7 to 8 ft or more, ideally floor to ceiling.

02

Mount the TV on the wall, not the panel

Decorative panels are not load-bearing. The TV bracket must be anchored through the panel into the brick or concrete wall, or onto a plywood backing fixed to the wall before panelling.

03

Wiring

Run power, HDMI and speaker cables in conduits before panelling, and leave a spare conduit for future devices. Mark sockets and the set-top box position so cut-outs land in the right place.

04

TV wall panel with LED lights

LED profile lights sit in slim channels between panels or along the edges. Decide the positions and the driver location first, because the wiring goes behind the panels. Warm white is easier on the eyes than cool white.

05

Glare

Sit on the sofa and note where windows and downlights reflect. Choose matt or textured panels for the zone around the screen and keep high-gloss finishes to side panels.

06

Fixing over paint

Panels fix directly onto a painted wall that is dry, flat and not flaking. Scrape loose paint and fill deep undulations first so the panel lines stay straight.

Avoid these

Common mistakes on a TV wall

Small planning misses that show every evening.

1
Screwing the TV bracket into the panel instead of the wall behind it
2
Panelling a strip only as wide as the TV, which makes the screen look cramped
3
Forgetting a spare conduit, then running a visible cable later
4
Mixing three or four textures on one wall so the screen has to compete

FAQ

TV unit wall panels, answered

Which panel is best for a TV unit?

Fluted WPC is a popular panel for a TV unit because the vertical texture frames the screen without glare. WPC fluted panels start from ₹99 per sq ft. For a richer look choose charcoal panels from ₹200, and for curved corners use flexible louvers from ₹300 per sq ft.

Which louvers are best for a TV unit?

For a flat wall, WPC fluted panels give the louver look from ₹99 per sq ft. If the TV unit has a curved edge or a round column next to it, flexible louvers from ₹300 per sq ft bend around it. Both come in wood-look finishes.

What wall panel size do I need for a 65 inch TV?

A 65 inch TV is about 57 inches wide. Plan a panelled backdrop at least 1.5 times that width, which is roughly 7 to 8 ft, and take it from floor to ceiling if you can. A wider backdrop always looks more balanced than a narrow strip.

Can I do a TV wall panel with LED lights?

Yes. LED profile lights are fitted in slim channels between panels or along the edges, and translucent alabaster sheets can be backlit as side panels. Plan the light positions, wiring and driver location before the panels are fixed, because everything runs behind them.

How to fit a TV wall panel, and can the TV hang on it?

Panels are fixed with adhesive, clips or on a light frame over a dry, flat wall. They are decorative, so the TV bracket must be anchored into the solid wall or a plywood backing behind the panel. Run all cables in conduits before fixing.

What is the WPC louvers TV unit price?

WPC fluted panels start from ₹99 per sq ft for material. A typical 10 x 9 ft TV wall is 90 sq ft, so material starts at about ₹8,910. Trims, adhesive, lighting and fitting are extra. Send us the wall size for an exact quote.

Is a backlit panel good for a TV wall?

A backlit panel looks best beside the screen, not directly behind it. Alabaster sheets from ₹240 per sq ft are translucent and glow when lit from behind. Use them as side panels or a niche, with dimmable warm light so they do not distract while you watch.

Do acoustic panels work on a TV wall?

Yes. Acoustic PET panels at ₹150 per sq ft are made to soften echo, so they suit a TV wall that doubles as a home theatre wall. They can be combined with fluted WPC on the same wall for texture and sound control together.
