The wall behind a TV is the one every guest looks at, so its texture decides how the whole living room feels. Here are the seven textures that work best behind a TV unit in Indian homes, with what each one looks like, what it costs for a typical wall, the light it needs, and its honest pros and cons.
For most Indian living rooms the best wall texture behind a TV is fluted WPC: warm, calm, waterproof and from ₹99 per sq ft. Choose charcoal panels for a dark, moody wall, louvers for deep shadow lines, UV marble for a luxe stone look, and backlit alabaster when you want the wall itself to glow. A 10 × 8 ft TV wall costs from about ₹7,920 in fluted WPC to ₹30,000 in UV marble or wide louvers, material only, before GST.

UV marble (MAESTÀ)
- Look
- High-gloss marble: calacatta whites, black and gold, onyx and bold veins

Pros
- Each sheet is a full 8 ft tall, so a standard wall has no horizontal joints

- Wipes clean with a damp cloth
Cons
- Gloss can reflect lamps and windows onto the screen area; plan the light
- Shows scratches like any glossy surface

Backlit alabaster
- Look
- Translucent veined sheets in amber, gold, white and onyx; dramatic when lit from behind

- Lighting
- Evenly spaced LEDs behind a diffuser, on a dimmer, with the driver reachable
Pros
- The only texture that is also a light source
- Looks completely different by day and by night
Cons
- Needs a light box, wiring and service access, which add cost
- Too much glow directly behind a screen distracts; frame the TV with it instead

Rattan cane webbing
- Look

- Cost
- From about ₹400 per sq ft · about ₹32,000 for 80 sq ft

A typical TV wall is 10 ft wide and 8 ft high: 80 sq ft. Here is the material cost for that wall in each texture, using our starting prices before GST. Installation, adhesive and trims are extra; see the installation cost guide.
| Texture | How it is worked out | Material cost | Relative cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fluted WPC (Wudonn) | 80 sq ft × ₹99 | ₹7,920 | |
| Charcoal panels | 80 sq ft × ₹200 (five 8 × 2 ft panels) | ₹16,000 | |
| Backlit alabaster | 80 sq ft × ₹240, plus LED light box | ₹19,200 + lighting | |
| Flexible WPC louvers | 80 sq ft × ₹300 | ₹24,000 | |
| Rattan cane | 2 rolls × ₹12,500 (about 50 sq ft each), plus framing | ₹25,000 | |
| UV marble (MAESTÀ) | 3 sheets of 8 × 4 ft × ₹9,999 | ₹29,997 | |
| LUXORA louvers, 1 ft wide | 10 pieces × ₹3,000 | ₹30,000 | |
| PU stone | 80 sq ft × ₹400 | ₹32,000 | |
| STAVORA louvers, 6 in wide | 20 pieces × ₹3,000 | ₹60,000 | |
| VENTIQUE louvers, 5 in wide | 24 pieces × ₹3,000 | ₹72,000 |
How the piece counts work: the wall is 120 in wide. UV marble sheets are 4 ft wide, so you need two full sheets and a third cut to 2 ft. Louvers are 9.5 ft long and are cut down to 8 ft; LUXORA is 12 in wide (10 pieces), STAVORA 6 in (20) and VENTIQUE 5 in (24). Add one or two spare pieces for switch and socket cut-outs.
Spend on the wall you look at most. A ₹8,000 fluted wall behind the TV often does more for a room than ₹80,000 spread thin.
Lighting and LED tips for a TV wall
| Texture | Light that suits it | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Fluted WPC and louvers | LED strip in a profile at the top or sides, grazing down the ribs | Flat light straight on, which hides the shadow lines |
| Charcoal | Warm wall washers or a cove; a little more light than a pale wall | A single dim lamp; dark walls swallow light |
| UV marble | Soft indirect light; a cove above | Spotlights or windows opposite that reflect in the gloss |
| Backlit alabaster | LEDs behind a diffuser, evenly spaced, on a dimmer | Bright glow directly behind the screen |
| Rattan and PU stone | Light from behind the weave; grazing light across stone relief | Front flood lighting |
- Choose warm white. Around 2700K to 3000K suits wood, charcoal and alabaster. A high colour-rendering LED (CRI 90 or more) keeps wood and marble true to the sample.
- Hide the strip. Set LED strips in aluminium profiles with a diffuser so you see a line of light, not dots.
- Put it on a dimmer. Bright for daytime, low for movies. Many people find a soft glow around the TV at night easier on the eyes than a black wall.
- Plan the wiring first. Run conduit for the TV, set-top box and LED driver before the panels go up, and leave a removable panel or hatch for access.
- Fix the TV to the structure. A TV bracket must anchor into the wall or a plywood backing behind the panels, never into the panels alone.

WhatsApp +91 93243 69051TV wall texture questions, answered
Which wall texture is best behind a TV unit?
For most Indian living rooms, fluted WPC panels are the best all-round texture behind a TV: warm, calm, waterproof and from ₹99 per sq ft. Charcoal panels suit dark, moody rooms, louvers give the deepest shadow lines, UV marble gives a luxe stone look and backlit alabaster makes the wall glow.
How much does a TV wall panel cost in India?
For a typical 10 by 8 ft TV wall of 80 sq ft, material costs about ₹7,920 in fluted WPC, ₹16,000 in charcoal panels, ₹24,000 in flexible WPC louvers, ₹29,997 in UV marble (3 sheets) and ₹30,000 in LUXORA louvers, before GST and installation.
Is fluted panel or louver better behind a TV?
Fluted panels cost less and suit large straight walls with a calm look. Louvers cost more but give deeper shadow lines, and flexible louvers can follow curves. For a budget TV wall choose fluted; for a statement wall choose louvers.
Can you mount a TV on wall panels?
Yes, but the TV bracket must be fixed into the wall or a plywood backing behind the panels, not into the panels alone. Plan the bracket position and run the cable conduit before the panels are installed.
Which TV wall texture is best for a small living room?
A light or mid-tone fluted WPC panel. Vertical ribs make a low ceiling feel taller, the cost is the lowest, and a lighter colour keeps a small room open. Avoid very dark charcoal or heavy stone relief in small rooms.
Does UV marble cause glare behind a TV?
It can, because UV marble is high-gloss. Use soft, indirect lighting, avoid spotlights aimed at the wall, and check that no window sits directly opposite where its reflection would fall behind the screen.
What lighting is best for a TV wall?
A warm white LED strip, around 2700K to 3000K, in an aluminium profile at the top or sides of the wall, on a dimmer. It grazes fluted and louver textures to show their depth and gives a soft glow around the screen for night viewing.
