What is a charcoal panel?
A charcoal panel is a wood-polymer composite (WPC) wall panel made from reclaimed wood fibre, bamboo charcoal powder and polymer resin, extruded into a ribbed or fluted profile. The bamboo charcoal is what gives the panel its name, its depth of colour and its ability to absorb odour and damp.
Unlike MDF or ply battens, there is no paper or wood core to swell, so a charcoal panel is waterproof and termite-proof all the way through. Panels are 8 ft × 2 ft and 4 mm thick, fix straight onto any flat surface, and cut with an ordinary saw — no wet trades, almost no dust.
In India they are used most often for feature walls, TV units, headboard walls, reception counters and restaurant interiors, where the fluted texture reads as premium but costs a fraction of solid wood.
