When the water comes in
Every other city we supply worries about humidity. Chennai has a harder question, and anyone in Velachery, Mudichur, Pallikaranai or the low pockets around Tambaram already knows it: what happens to the wall when water actually gets into the room.
2015 is the one everyone remembers, but it doesn't take a once-in-a-century flood. A hard November week is enough in the wrong street. And the cruelty of it is that the water leaves in a day and the damage stays for years. Gypsum board goes soft and has to be cut out. Plywood and MDF drink it up, swell, delaminate and then bring termites. Paint blows off in sheets a month later. People rebuild the same wall in the same material and wait for it to happen again.
Clvin PVC panels have nothing inside them to absorb water. A wall that has been wet can be wiped down and carries on. That isn't a claim about flood-proofing your home, and if water is coming in you still need to deal with why. But the finish on the wall doesn't have to be written off every single time.
Rain when the rest of the country is dry
Chennai runs on its own calendar. While most of India dries out after September, the north-east monsoon arrives in October and works through to December. Before that, April to June pushes past 40 degrees with humidity that never really drops, and along ECR, Neelankarai and Besant Nagar there's salt in the air the whole year.
Heat and damp at the same time is the combination that finishes off veneer and laminate. Edges lift, joints open, and a wall that looked immaculate in March looks tired by December. WPC, PVC, charcoal and ACP panels are non-absorbent and dimensionally stable, so they hold through the heat, the salt and the monsoon, and they wipe clean rather than needing a repolish.

Which panel should I use on a ground floor that has flooded before?
Clvin PVC at ₹99 per sq ft. It is a solid PVC panel with nothing inside to absorb water, so if a wall gets wet it can be wiped down and it carries on. Plywood, MDF and gypsum all have to come out and be replaced after standing water. Fix the source of the water where you can, but the finish itself does not have to be a write-off every time.
Do you install wall panels in Chennai?

Are these panels alright on a sea-facing wall on ECR or in Besant Nagar?
Yes. Salt-laden air is a corrosion and damp problem, not a structural one, and non-absorbent composites do not take it up. Clvin PVC and ACP are the usual picks close to the water. Charcoal and Wudonn WPC are fine a street or two back.

Are your charcoal panels the same as carbon slate panels?
Yes, they are the same category. Charcoal panels, carbon slate and charcoal louvers all describe bamboo-charcoal WPC panels with a grooved or slatted face. Ours are 8 by 2 ft, 4 mm thick, from ₹200 per sq ft, and they are waterproof, termite-proof and fire-retardant.
Will panels handle Chennai heat?
Yes. April to June regularly pushes past 40 degrees with high humidity on top, and composites are dimensionally stable through it. They do not swell like MDF or lift at the edges the way veneer does when it is hot and damp at the same time.
Do you have a showroom in Chennai?
